Probably every one of us Sherlockians, at some point, has wished that the Great Detective and the good Doctor were real people. Just a few days ago, I was typing out a post-WWI fic and crying over it and wishing that these two men—of whom I’ve poured out so much of my heart in writing—had been historical rather than fictional figures.
What if they really were?
The same day, I stumbled across an article on Sherlockian.net, and I think this is something that ALL fans need to read: http://www.sherlockian.net/world/starling.html It completely blew me away. It lays out a very convincing case for the reality of Mr. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. James Watson.

Oh, don't cry! I hate/love it when they become so real that you just bawl it all out. I once killed my favorite character and sobbed for about half an hour.
I am really looking forward to this WWI fic now.
